Across Nebraska, many FFA chapters operate test plots. These fields give students hands-on experience in crop production, while also building partnerships with local farmers and agribusinesses. Often supported through donated seed, equipment, and expertise, the plots serve as both learning labs and fundraisers for local ag programs.in these weeks in the field, we head just north of Lincoln.
These days, most deals are made with a click or a swipe. But auctions still hold their place, bringing people together face to face. This week, Steve White takes us to a competition where the state's top auctioneers go head-to-head for bragging rights.
Last week, we spoke with USDA Under Secretary Richard Fordyce during his visit to Nebraska to discuss wildfire recovery efforts. While he was here with senator Pete Ricketts, we also had the chance to visit with the Senator. We asked him about recovery work underway, as well as the status of the highly anticipated farm bill and other legislation, he's currently sponsoring.
Grain Markets continue to navigate a mix of strong planting progress and weather uncertainty. With corn and soybeans moving into the ground at a good pace across Nebraska, attention is now shifting to moisture, export demand, and price direction heading into summer. Alex caught up with Luke Beckman of Central Valley Ag on Wednesday to get his take on what producers should be watching.
