AgroLiquid's Reid Abbott and Kelly Waugh presented on the AcresTV Experience Stage at Commodity Classic. Their session, titled 'Are you overfeeding acres or underfeeding yield?' is now available on AcresTV.
Many fertilizer programs are still built around flat rates, averages or tradition, rather than intended yield outcomes. Because yield potential is not uniform across a field, applying a uniform nutrition plan can lead to overfeeding low-response zones and underfeeding high-response areas. This can result in wasted fertilizer dollars and unrealized yield potential. This session will explore how factors like compaction, poor drainage, low organic matter, shallow topsoil, pH limitations and inconsistent water availability can limit crop response — and how aligning fertility decisions with field performance can drive better returns.
