We begin in Nebraska, where Governor Jim Pillen has issued executive orders providing temporary diesel and transportation relief during harvest season. The measures are aimed at helping Nebraska farmers, ranchers, livestock transporters and agricultural businesses navigate rising operating costs and transportation challenges.
Next, we head to Washington County, Iowa, where the Washington County Pork Producers are celebrating National Pork Month by serving 1,000 free pork burger meals at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The drive-through event is another example of how local pork producers support and give back to the rural communities where they live and work.
We’ll also highlight a Pennsylvania pork externship opportunity, giving participants an opportunity to gain experience and learn more about pork production, pig farming and careers within the swine industry.
Then, Rachel Fishback sits down with Phil Borgic of Borgic Farms for a conversation about leadership, employee development and building the next generation of leaders in pork production. The discussion explores The Borgic Way, company values and why investing in employees and leadership development matters to the future of a successful pork operation.
