ASV Foundation Honors Animal Welfare Leader with Angela Baysinger Memorial Scholarship
The American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation (AASVF) continues its strong commitment to advancing production animal welfare through the Angela Baysinger Memorial Scholarship — an annual award recognizing students who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving animal welfare across the livestock and veterinary industries.
This prestigious scholarship honors the late Dr. Angela Baysinger, a respected leader and advocate for animal welfare who devoted her career to promoting science-based welfare practices, mentorship, and collaboration throughout the field of veterinary medicine. Her legacy continues to inspire the next generation of veterinarians, animal scientists, and welfare specialists working to improve the lives of production animals.
Each year, one outstanding student with a demonstrated passion for animal welfare in production agriculture will be selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their education and hands-on learning experiences. Funds may be applied toward research projects, conference travel, or other experiential learning opportunities that enhance understanding and practical skills in welfare science.
Eligible applicants include veterinary students, graduate students, residents, or interns currently enrolled in a North American college of veterinary medicine or a related academic program.
In addition to the financial award, the scholarship recipient will receive complimentary registration and a $300 travel stipend to attend the AASV Annual Meeting, where they will be recognized for their achievement and invited to participate in the Pig Welfare Committee meetings — a valuable networking and professional development opportunity.
Applications for the 2025 Angela Baysinger Memorial Scholarship are due December 31, 2025. Applicants must submit a cover letter, summary of experience and goals, and a mentor letter of support.
The scholarship is made possible through generous contributions to the Angela K. Baysinger Memorial Fund, administered by the AASV Foundation, ensuring Dr. Baysinger’s lifelong mission of advancing animal welfare and education continues to make a lasting impact on the veterinary community.
