Canada–U.S. Pork Industry Roundtable | Iowa, U.S. & Canadian Leaders Discuss Trade, Animal Health & Collaboration
This important meeting brought together leaders from Iowa, the United States, and Canada to discuss the future of pork production, international trade, animal health, disease prevention, and supply chain resilience.
I spoke with Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Past Iowa Pork Producers Association President Aaron Juergens, Stephen Heckbert, President and CEO of the Canadian Pork Council, and Cam Dahl, General Manager of the Manitoba Pork Council, about the importance of collaboration across borders.
Industry leaders from Iowa, the United States, and Canada came together to discuss:

✔️ Biosecurity and emergency preparedness
✔️ Supply chain stability
✔️ Sustainability and innovation
✔️ Rural economic development
With the U.S. and Canadian pork sectors closely connected, collaboration remains essential for maintaining strong export markets and protecting food security.
This meeting included representatives from the Iowa Pork Producers Association, National Pork Producers Council, National Pork Board, Iowa Farm Bureau, and pork associations from Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
