Equipment Upgrades, Time Management & Family Moments πππ€
Today's episode is all about farm maintenance and efficiency - upgrading equipment to save time on daily chores, and sharing some personal victories along the way.
Mixer Wagon Upgrade:
We're upgrading our "Jaylor" mixer wagon that we purchased used. The original knives have become dull over time, making it difficult to chop hay efficiently. The installation process involves replacing 12 flat knives and adding two "bail slicers" to improve the mixing and chopping process.
This upgrade is all about saving time during daily chores. When you're juggling multiple tasks - blogging, housework, video production, AND farm work - efficiency in equipment is essential. Because on the farm, time is valuable. We face a minor setback when the incorrect bolts are provided, but we problem-solve and use alternative hardware to get the job done.
Farm Philosophy:
Managing a farming operation efficiently means making smart choices about how we spend our time and resources. Our farm utilizes rotational grazing with paddock sizes ranging from 3 to 15 acres, which allows us to keep our cattle on grass for longer periods. These kinds of systems take planning and management, but they're worth it.
Family Moments:
And now for the good news - my radiation treatments are complete! I'm so grateful for all the support and prayers we've received during this time. It means everything to our family.
To celebrate and take advantage of an unseasonably warm day, we took a side-by-side out to tag newborn calves and do some farm work together as a family. These moments - working together, seeing new life arrive, celebrating milestones - this is what it's all about.
