Derek Nord's passion for agriculture began at an early age, learning the ins and outs of the industry on his family's farm in Illinois. This passion continued growing into adulthood and serves Derek well in his career with John Deere. It also inspired him to share his knowledge and gifts with other farmers through the work of Farm Rescue. In his first year of volunteering, Derek was a crucial member of a harvest crew that served a family near Clarion, IA. This particular couple was dealing with separate health issues that placed major strains on their family and farming operation. Not only was Derek a formidable combine operator, he also formed an immediate bond with the family due to a previous health battle of his own.
