Deer fence installation for orchards, protecting fruit trees from deer damage, building a deer fence around a tree nursery, orchard fencing project, farm fence installation, and preventing deer pressure in specialty crop agriculture are all part of this project as we begin preparing our tree fruit nursery for a new deer fence.
In this video we start the process of protecting our young fruit trees from heavy deer pressure by preparing the site for a new deer fence. Deer can cause serious damage to young orchards by browsing buds, rubbing antlers on trunks, and destroying years of growth. To prevent that damage, we're clearing brush, removing obstacles, and getting the area ready for a permanent fence that will protect the nursery and help these trees establish successfully.
This is Part 1 of the project, where we focus on the land preparation phase using farm equipment to clear the fence line and create a path for installation. If you grow fruit trees, manage an orchard, run a tree nursery, or deal with wildlife pressure on your farm, this series will walk through the steps we’re taking to protect our investment and improve orchard management.
Make sure to like the video and subscribe so you don’t miss Part 2 next week, where we continue the deer fence installation and show the next steps in protecting the nursery.
Follow along as we share real-world farming projects from our orchard here in northern Michigan.
