Today’s vlog captures an ideal day for haymaking operations. With warm temperatures, bright sunshine, and favorable winds, we’re making the most of the weather window - mowing, raking, and baling hay fields. Our fields are a mix of orchard grass, clover, brome, and Timothy grass, and we’re working through custom round bales for another party before transitioning into all-day square baling operations.
Beyond the hay, we’re preparing for fair season. Our show calves are being fed a specialized ration of SunGlo and full-body pellets, carefully weighed according to their body weight. With new water access at the barn, we can now wash and prep the calves on-site rather than hauling them elsewhere. It’s these kinds of improvements that make a difference in our operation. As I reflect on how far we’ve come through dedication, hard work, and the sacrifices made along the way, I’m grateful for every piece of progress.
