The K9000 Dual Roll Adapter features an improved crop flow system with the addition of an extra intake roller on the bottom. Combined with the standard top intake roller, this adapter is specially designed for today's higher horsepower harvesters and larger corn heads, providing better cleanout and increased harvesting speed, averaging 6-7 MPH.
The K9000 is used for harvesting just the ears of corn using the row crop header to make earlage. Earlage is harvested later than silage, giving the producer a longer working window, and it provides a product that reduces the amount of roughage that needs to be fed compared to a corn-based ration. This dual roll adapter is highly recommended for operations exceeding 300 acres of earlage, providing consistent performance and durability.
These adapters are known for their robustness, with many customers experiencing over 10 years of use. Typically, replacement occurs when a customer trades brands or upgrades their harvester.
This adapter is specifically made for John Deere® 8000 and 9000 series self-propelled forage harvesters. It facilitates the connection between the harvester and a row-crop header, making the transition from silage harvesting to earlage harvesting simple. Installation is the same as hooking up any other implement, and the adapter can be left on the harvester or corn head when not in use. When left on the corn head, simply lift the adapter/corn head and hook up the PTOs.
